In the first five years of the OUTS program, 44 umpires who have attended OUTS have advanced into the ranks of professional baseball at the minor league level. With six more this year, we will reach our 50th MiLB umpire in just our sixth year!
"Professional Baseball. That's a trademarked name. It only truly applies to leagues involved in the NAPBL (National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues) and MLB, " said Bob Bainter, OUTS founder. "That's not intended to be a shot at independent leagues...not at all. I worked in an independent league and had a blast doing it. Our major goal, for umpires who want to really get to affiliated minor league baseball, is to find their weaknesses, keep them to a minimum, and accentuate their positives to make them as attractive as prospective MiLB umpires. We want guys to get a "yes" when they go to umpire school."
"These umpires reached the pinnacle of the profession, and I can't wait to say that we have worked with 50 of these umpires in the past six years. We don't just hire umpires for the sake of having jobs. Our goal is to get those who want to get into Minor League Baseball where they want to go, and so far, we've exceeded everybody's expectations, including my own."
Good Luck to the 2014 OUTS Umpires who returned to the Wendelstedt Umpire School in 2015!:
Northwoods League Umpires:
Prospect League (Attended OUTS, hired by the PUC camp in Shreveport):
We are proud to announce that we are returning to the International Palms Resort in 2015!!!
"I enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in 2014, but I'm really happy to be back at the Palms for 2015," said Bob Bainter. "The staff always treated us well, and I have no complaints about last year or the wonderful staff at the Best Western, but the Palms just feels like home, and I am looking forward to being there again!"
"We have the opportunity to offer loft rooms again in 2015. They hold three umpires, and have a full kitchen, which our umpires really enjoyed in 2013. They were able to get groceries to save money while they were there, and I'm sure we will sell out of them in a hurry!"
The Northwoods League is proud to congratulate the umpires who were selected to work the North and South Division playoffs, as well as those selected to work the NWL Summer Collegiate World Series in 2013! All of these umpires were 2013 attendees of the O.U.T.S. seminar!
